I teach philosophy units within ACU's Program in Western Civilisation. This program provides undergraduates and postgraduates with a liberal arts education centered around the great works of Western intellectual traditions from antiquity to the present. In Semester 1 of 2022 I am teaching WCIV200: Doctrine, Myth, and History: Religion and the West . This unit begins by covering key texts that exemplify the lasting influence of Polytheistic Greco-Roman religious symbolism and narratives. We then turn to the Judeo-Christian tradition, highlighting ways in which western Christianity has developed in continuing dialogue with non-western forms of Christianity—in Africa, Byzantium, and later in the Global South—as well as with other faiths.
Prior to arriving at ACU, I taught courses at UM-St. Louis, Lindenwood University, and Washington University in St. Louis. I also spent eight summers teaching philosophy courses for the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. This program provides an opportunity for advanced adolescents to take an intensive university-level course condensed into three weeks. Among the courses I have taught for CTY are Bioethics, Logic, and Ethics.
